Rehovot is a city 20 kilometers southeast of Tel Aviv, next to Rishon LeZion.

Rehovot was founded in 1890, during the First Aliyah, by the members of the "Menucha We-Nahala" society, who came from Warsaw.

The city received its name after the well, dug by the forefather Isaac.

In the beginning, Rehovot was an agricultural settlement. The grapes grown here were sold to the wineries of the neighboring Rishon Lezion. Since 1904, citrus plantations have appeared here.

In 1907 the settlement accepted the first immigrants from Yemen.

In 1950, Rehovot was given the status of a city.

In Rehovot there is the Weizmann Institute of Science and the Faculty of Agriculture of Hebrew University.
